While out bumming with my family today, we came across Saylesville; located in what is today known as South Genesee, Wisconsin. Alexander Rankin and his wife became the first settlers of this settlement along an Indian Trail that ran between Milwaukee and Mukwonago. The settlement though was named after Stephen Sayles and his four sons. The four sons of Stephen helped to built the settlement. Whitman Sayles helped to dam the creek to form a pond and built a mill. Whitman also, along with his brother built the first creamery and store. George Sayles ran the first general store. These photos are what remains today of the old settlement.
