Eagle Bluff Lighthouse
The Eagle Bluff Lighthouse was built in 1868 in Peninsula State Park. There was a desperate need for a lighthouse here sense just off shore lies one of the two shipping channels between Green Bay and cities noth and east. The east channel is narrow and trecherous with the park bluffs on one side and the large, flat shoals of the Strawberry Islands. The lighthouse was constructed of cream city brick at a cost of $12,000 and building materials were brought in by boat from Detroit, Michigan and Milwaukee. The boats then landed on the north shore of Lighthouse Bay, now known as Tennyson Bay. This Lighthouse is still standing today and the park gives daily tours inside.
