Photocritique Them Day: Reflection

Every Saturday Photocritique Fan Page (on facebook) does a theme day. This weeks theme day was reflection. They post the theme early in the week for photographers can go hunt for a photo to fit this theme. I visited the Boener Gardens at Whitnal park and attempted to take reflection photos in their water features and small waterfall. They did not turn out as I had planned, so I started going through all my CD's of my photos. This past fall I visited the Milwaukee Domes and took this picture of one of the Domes reflecting in the pond.

Now with the advacing technology, his passion has grown and takes awe inspring photos from landscapes to flowers to people. Spring Boerner Botonical Gardens

"It is not for us, but for our children and grandchildren who will reap the full benefit." This was the statement given by Alfred L. Boerner as he describes his plans for Whitnall Park in Hales Corners, Wisconsin. Alfred was appointed Milwaukee County's Landscape Archtect. He strongly believed that a park should provide both beautiful and educational qualifications. With this he designed the Botonical Gardens, with the axis of the perennial and annual malls centering on the fountains as a focal point, and with vistas to the south and west ends of the mall. Three years after his death in 1952, the gardens were renamed Boerner Botonical Gardens. The following photos are from my spring visit on May 9th to the gardens.

Topaz

This past weekend, I started a trial with Topaz Labs photoshop plugins. To truely test the effects and tools included in each plug in, I edited photos that were taken with a disposable camera or my first canon camera. I have included a before and after of each. The top photo is the original and the bottum is the edited version.

Fashion Revolution 2010

On May 1st, 2010, the Milwaukee At Museum hosted the 4th Annual Fashion Revolution. This production is put on by Sheena Marie and raises money for a scholarship for inner-city students who are pursing a degree in fashion. The outfits shown in the production are designed by local designers in Milwaukee and Chicago. This years production included 12 designers and 23 models, one being my sister. This show was my sisters first Fashion show and she did an awesome job.

At this production, I took the opportunity to take photos of the show. At the begging I had issues with lighting and the fast pace of the models but after trying many different settings, I was able to get some nice photos. The following are a few of my favorite and of my sister.

Windover Hall

The Windover Hall is the entrance hall for the Quadracci Pavilion at the Milwaukee Art Museum. It was designed by Santiago Calatrava and is designed after a Gothic Cathedral. The hall is completed with flying buttresses, pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and a central nave topped by a 90-foot high glass roof. The hall's chancel is shaped like a ship overlooking Lake Michigan. Connected to the hall are two tow-arched promenades, The Baumgartner Galleria and Schroeder Foundation Galleria, overlooking the lake and downtown Milwaukee.
